FTP and zones
What is FTP?
FTP is a power reference VinApp uses to calculate zones and scale workouts to your current level.
Recommended steps
- VinApp uses FTP to set power zones so workouts match your level. It does not need to be perfect to start.
- If FTP is too high, workouts become too hard; if too low, they fall short. Review it periodically as you progress.
- FTP is different from LT1 and from the Lambert submaximal test, which have different purposes. The FTP test protocols (ramp and 20-minute) and how VinApp computes the result are explained in the FTP test article.
- Use the same FTP reference across VinApp to keep load and zones coherent.
- Adjust gradually and observe sensations over several sessions.
- For the formulas, acceptance flow and history, see How VinApp computes the result in the test article.
